Woo hoo!

An extra post.

Weigh in result - just half a pound on.   I am so very happy with that, given that I've been on holiday.

While on holiday, I got a message from Jennifer, the group leader, telling me that I'd been nominated for the 'Woman of the Year' award in both groups, the one I go to during the pottery terms and my 'real' one.  That was a surprise and very, very encouraging.  I had to decide which one to go for (couldn't do both) and went for my 'real' group, the Thursday evening one.

I was really chuffed tonight - I was voted the Women of the Year for my group.  Here's my certificate and banner thingy, now on my fridge door (and yes, that is an Adipose you can see).

I thought maybe it was time to show a few more photos to you.  The first is me two years ago, a couple of months before my gall bladder crash and the second is the photo Jennifer took of me this evening.  Bit of a difference, eh?

Very, very definitely worth it!  And if I can do it, anyone can!  xx

    1. Thanks very much, Chris. The program is great as long as one applies common sense while following it. As for my will power - well, I was forced into it in the first place and success breeds will power, I guess. :-)

    1. Many thanks. I was astonished at the difference myself when I saw Jen's photo. I try to avoid having my photo taken so there isn't much of a record really. I didn't have much choice yesterday evening, lol

  3. Wow! What a difference! You look fantastic!
Can I ask how much you have lost?
I've joined Slimming World a few weeks ago and have just my first stone.
I've been doing well but have struggled this week due to it being a hard and highly emotional week. I'm a serious emotional eater so its been really hard to resist the pull to comforting chocolate and stodge.
Also my 7 month old baby isn't sleeping much so I'm very tired during the day which could be why I'm craving chocolate for a energy quick fix. I've done my best this week but it has been wobbly in places, fingers crossed for a loss on the scales today!

    1. Hi, Amanda, thanks for the lovely comment.
I've lost exactly six stone at the moment but when I reach target it will be three pounds under seven stone lost.
Many congratulations on getting those first two awards. Fingers crossed for a good result today.
I'm an emotional eater too although I go for the savoury stodge rather than the sweet stuff. I am sure one of the many reasons why this has worked this time is because I am now retired and my life is considerably less stressful and much slower paced. When Mum died earlier in the year, I gained over half a stone again.
Now I keep more healthy delicious bites in the fridge for when I 'need' something. At the moment it is a carton of olives and feta. Hardly frugal but it stops me going for other stuff and I don't need much to satisfy as it's a strong taste. It's helping at the moment.
I'm sure the tiredness and the fact that you must be run ragged is why you're feeling vulnerable and wobbly right now. Have a chat to your group leader, if it helps - that's one of the things they are there for and what you pay your weekly subs for.
Good luck - do let me know how it goes.

  4. Wow, Joy, just.....wow! Massive congratulations to you, not only on winning Woman of the Year (what an accolade!), but on the huge difference and looking so fabulous. You look like (and are) a different woman altogether. I don't know why you don't want your photo take, you look so good you should be having your photo taken everywhere! xx

    1. Aw, thanks, Sooze, for those lovely words.
I'm not photogenic in the least, never have been, but I like that second photo. That's unusual for me. :-)

  6. Wow, you have done so well. What an amazing difference, and I'm sure you feel better inside as well as outside. I find your blog very inspiring, I love reading the recipes and suggestions although I don't follow Slimming World myself. Congratulations, and it sounds as if you have only a few pounds to go to target. I'm sure you'll get there.

    1. Thank you so much. I do feel loads better all round and, while I'll never be an extrovert, I'm more confident than I was.
I think a good, healthy recipe is a good healthy recipe, whatever the structure and I'm really happy that people seem to find them helpful.
I have eleven pounds to go so fingers crossed.
