Tuesday, 06-12-22: Christmas Challenge day 6

 Good morning to you!
Well, my cold is progressing 9n the way of all colds and today is the day for craving carby stuff.   I can tell by my reaction to what I have planned (and changed) for today.  Forewarned is forearmed, as the saying goes.

Ten healthy habits for Christmas
6.  Get back on track
After a big night out, don't skip meals, even after you've over indulged.  After all, it's the balance of your diet that's important.  Apply the 80-20 principle eating healthily 80% of the time, which allows space for treats at weekends and on special occasions.
(how very true)

Yesterday's meal photos:
Breakfast was just fruit - I had some grapes, a banana and some easy peelers.

This was good for lunch - quite filling and easy to swallow.  Leek, broccoli and butterbean soup with some shreds of turkey and ham.
I enjoyed this for dinner although it made me cough a bit.  Very satisfying though.

Today's plans:  Yes, as mentioned above, carb heavy, but it should keep me on track.  Carb craving days can be hard to manage.

B:  baked beans
Yes, just a can of baked beans, a whole can (if I can manage them) and I am so looking forward to one of the ultimate comfort foods!
SW:  no syns in a bowl of baked beans.

L:  turkey jacket potato, salad; fruit
I plan to use half a can of the Aldi chicken in a white sauce, add plenty of turkey leg meat, jazz it all up with some sort of spicy seasoning and have it with a small jacket potato and a bit of salad.
SW:  as the chicken in white sauce is one syn, this meal should be half a syn

D:  turkey pie with cheesy potato topping, broccoli and sprouts; yogurt
As I have to use up the other half of the can of white sauce with minimal chicken, I'll start with onion, add mushroom and red pepper and, maybe some frozen peas, add the rest of the white sauce with some more turkey leg and maybe a bit of ham and top it with cheesy mash - or maybe not add cheese but use an egg yolk - that makes a lovely mash.
SW:  The cheese will be my healthy extra As and the rest of the can will be another half syn while the yogurt is half a syn

Exercise:  rest day - I've pulled out of Groove although I might try to get a place in SET on Thursday instead, like I did last week.

Summary:
one to one and a half healthy extra As
no healthy extra Bs
one and a half syns

The Christmas Challenge is to have at least one meal each day with a Christmas Festive vibe to it while staying within the Slimming World Plan.
Please feel free to copy/use anything you see and like.

  1. That sounds like a lovely day's eating, Joy - just what your carb-craving body needs. If I crave something or other, I generally go with it (unless it was a dozen bars of chocolate!), as I think it's the body's way of telling us what it needs. Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon xx
