Sunday evening, 07-04-24

Good evening!
I am so frustrated.  I did a good old waffle about the last thing that has really helped me - and deleted it in error.  So frustrating but maybe it wasn't meant.

It was rather long so maybe it's just as well.  😏  I will cut it short.

The last thing that has really helped me on Slimming World is Enjoyment.
I've worked hard to ensure that I focus on enjoying the journey rather than focusing on the destination so that I won't want to take detours and 'scenic routes' while travelling and so that when I do reach the destination, I will want to continue with what I enjoyed while on the journey.

Basically, that's what I said but it took me several paragraphs and all sorts of worthy points to get there and I can't face regurgitating them - sorry.
(did I hear a faint cheer there???)  😁

What I ate today:

Breakfast was a lovely Sunday plate of home made waffles, yogurt and some fruit (from the freezer).  It went down a real treat!
Three syns (because I had planned my B for the evening)

I decided to look up the SW recipe for Yorkshire puddings.  I thirded the recipe to make two and two syns each but I was using a bun tin rather than the deeper muffin tin so it actually made four for the same syns - can't grumble about that.  They were very light and crisp and hollow and an odd shape as you can see but lovely!
It all came to four syns for the Yorkshire recipe plus I used one syn for half a tsp oil to start them off well.  I used spray for the roasties so syn free.  Then two syns for gravy and half a syn for horseradish sauce.

And it was lovely!

Using one of the chicken koftas, made yesterday, for a toastie filling worked really well with cheese and chutney.
As I was still fairly full from lunch, I just had a few bits on the side and was well satisfied.

Two healthy extra As, one healthy extra B, one and a half syns for chutney and one and a half for the kofta (I worked it out wrong yesterday).

And that was it for the day - really delicious meals.

Summary:
two healthy extra As
one healthy extra B
thirteen and a half syns - quite high but within the limit.
Tomorrow's meal plans:

B:  guacamole bagel with egg, mushrooms and tomatoes
A favourite breakfast and I have a lot of bagels in the freezer to use up.
ISW:  one healthy extra B and two syns

L:  h.m. tomato and red pepper soup; fruit
I have some garden tomatoes in the freezer from last year - they do need using up.
SW:  one syn for some mixed seeds if I use them as a garnish.

D:  lemon chicken couscous; fruit
I got this recipe from the SW site - it's on YouTube so here's the link if you're interested.
SW:  syn free

Exercise:  gardening, hopefully, and a Lindsey pre-record

  1. Dieting is about more than just losing weight, I think - and you know. If we all just stuck to cottage cheese, dry crispbreads and lettuce leaves, then we'd certainly lose weight, but what a boring life! It wouldn't be sustainable or enjoyable, and we'd pile the weight back on as soon as we started eating 'normally'. You really enjoy cooking and creating lovely looking plates of food that are visually appealing as well as being tasty, so you've cracked it. And your creations always make my mouth water! xx

    1. I totally agree. For full and lasting impact, it needs to be a whole person thing, focusing on body, mind and spirit. They feed and support each other. I'm very grateful that things have changed so much since retirement and the health scare. I know it wasn't cardiac, but it very easily could have been and that was frightening. Also scary was how much worry it caused the people I love best.
I do love my food though and feel it is worth the little bit of extra effort it takes to make it all nice. I think I have pretty much found my way now.
(hoping that's not Famous Last Words!!)
      xx
