Morning, everyone.
Today's plans:
B: muesli and yogurt
L: cheg and salad
D: beans on toast, fruit yogurt
Ss: apples
From the freezer:
Just the bread today.
The frugal factor:
Pretty much all of it. The cheese (real cheese) isn't particularly cheap but I have so little of it that it doesn't amount to loads. Eggs is just eggs, as the saying goes.
I'm sure everyone knows this tip but I will give it anyway - when using cheese for cooking, get a very strong one - you need less to get that good, cheesy flavour.
I have decided exercise stinks!!! I've started doing some heavy digging in the allotment this week and guess what - I have put on three pounds since Saturday. It can't possibly be food as I'm sticking very carefully to the liver shrinking diet for this last week and the digging is the only different thing in my life. It will settle, of course, but I am a bit dismayed, all the same. I thought I'd never see that next stone number again and this morning, there it was, smirking at me! Grrrrr.
More digging today so lord only knows what it will be like next time I check. :-)
(It's good for me really, I know)
The digging could be muscle ?! I'm sure that hard work's doing you good though xox
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sure that's it, plus retaining fluid as the muscles repair. It's common, just annoying. But I can't stop; I have a deadline to meet. It's good for me really.
DeleteI probably won't be weighing for a couple of weeks after Friday while things settle down post op again.

It's so annoying when we put weight on when we've been really working hard and sticking to our diet, isn't it? Quite demoralising really. But you know why the gain has happened and that it's only temporary. You've done really well, Joy, don't forget that.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the body goes into maintenance mode, holding onto calories because its list a lot of weight. It will come off.
ReplyDeleteI'm absolutely sure that's the case, Sooze. It's 4 lbs on and that's not usual, there's no way I have eaten that much.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of 'starvation mode' but I'm not all that sure, not at the level I have been eating which is around the 1000 calories a day. It's not a VLC diet.
Whatever it is, there is no way I am going to stop the digging, I have to get that bed dug before the weekend and that's that! Afterwards I have decided I'm re-joining a local gym that has a nice pool and will be using that several times a week, when I can. Swimming is great toning exercise and, more important, I enjoy it, unlike exercise classes, etc.
So this is just temporary: the clothes don't feel any tighter anyway! :-)

I have to laugh. I#ve just looked up 'starvation mode' on Google and it ways the single most effective thing you can do is resistance exercise. If that's not heavy digging, I don't know what is! :-)
